This is a full-time or part-time, in-person, position to hand solder, assemble, and troubleshoot SMT circuit boards for the assembly of finished goods to create an electrical/mechanical product built to specifications while using quality standards.
1. Hand soldering SMT components under a microscope (Mantis as well as traditional stereo).
2. Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
3. May determine methods and sequences of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available.
4. Guidance is readily available from superiors, works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to assemble hardware and electronic devices, which include harnessing and mechanical components.
5. Uses hand tools, power tools, calibration tools and test equipment.
6. Makes continuity checks and conducts quality inspections on work in process and completed work. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Perform quality tasks by visual observation, checklists, and bill of materials, and assembly drawings.
7. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental/prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
8. Follow procedures to maintain inventory accuracy.
9. Prepare logs and maintain production records.
10.Assist Assemblers as necessary to get the job done.
11. All other work as directed, and all tasks incidental to the successful performance of this position..
1. Ability to work with hand and Power tools including: wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, soldering irons, etc.
2. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blue prints and procedures, and the ability to make corrections and suggest improvements to documentation and procedures.
3. Ability to work with small parts and (printed circuit) pc boards.
4. Thorough understanding of troubleshooting, testing and inspection techniques.
5. Able to perform basic soldering functions, and use magnification or specialized devices.
6. Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
7. Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
8. Excellent English language skills are needed to communicate effectively with work cell technicians, with members of other departments, and with customers. Excellent writing skills are needed to create assembly and testing procedures.
1. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Experience
1. 5 years of prior experience preferred.
2. Assembly: 5+ years.
3. SMT Hand Soldering: 5+ years.
1. Work is performed 5 days/week on-site at our facility in Sterling, VA.
